Portugal tagih magis Ronaldo

MESKIPUN memiliki pemain termahal dunia - Cristiano Ronaldo, namun itu bukan jaminan buat skuad kebangsaan Portugal bagi merang- kul gelaran Piala Dunia 2010 yang akan berlangsung di Afrika Selatan, Jun depan.
Jika ramai pihak beranggapan Ronaldo bakal membuka lembaran baru buat skuad yang diberi jolokan Seleccao das Quinas itu pada kempen Piala Dunia kali ini, ternyata andaian tersebut jauh meleset.
Perkara tersebut diakui sendiri oleh Ronal- do yang juga bintang Real Madrid.
Secara terbuka, Ronaldo mengakui dia bukanlah seorang pemain yang mempunyai kuasa serta memiliki keajaiban bagi menentukan hala tuju pasu- kannya.
"Untuk sesebuah pasukan itu muncul juara pada Piala Dunia, mereka memerlukan sekurang-kurang 11 pemain terbaik.

Good news for wushu

KUCHING: It would be an easier task to scout for potential talents when wushu is included as an event in the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) competition and listed in the school curriculum of primary and secondary schools, starting next year.

Wushu Association of Sarawak (WAS) secretary James Ting said yesterday that this was because if all the schools included wushu in their curriculum, a very big pool of young wushu exponents would be created.
“This certainly augurs well for development of the sport not only in Sarawak but in the whole country because we can produce more exponents of good calibre,” he said.
Ting, who is also WAS chief coach, went on to say that he expected stiffer competition among the exponents to earn places in the state and national squads.
“We need to organise more coaching courses where we will invite the teachers in-charge of wushu to attend,” he added.

WORLD CUP 2010 | SOUTH AFRICA

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international football tournament. It is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams. As such, it matches the 2008 Summer Olympics as the sports event with the most competing nations.
This will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation, after South Africa beat Morocco and Egypt in an all-African bidding process. This decision left the Oceania Football Confederation as the only confederation yet to host the FIFA World Cup. Italy are the defending champions. The draw for the finals took place on 4 December 2009 in Cape Town.
